SUMMER DAY CAMP LEADER –  Full Time (35-40 hours/week)

Reporting to the Program and Special Events Manager and under the direction of the Summer Camp Coordinator, the Summer Camp Day Camp leader will be responsible for working with a team in the delivery of a safe, fun, experience rich, summer day camp experience for children 3-12 years. As a Summer day camp leader you will be responsible to ensure the well-being and safety of all participants, facilitate sport driven games and activities, provide daily feedback to the Summer Camp Coordinator and maintain a fun and inclusive environment for all participants.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily interactions with children ages 3-13, parents/guardians and collaboration with team members.

  • Deliver outstanding programs, following program planning while enforcing camp rules and policies.

  • Organize, lead and supervise in a variety of sports and activities. Working in both indoor and outdoor environments, swim with participants, setting up and dismantling of program equipment and supplies.

  • Offer superior customer service and leadership to internal and external patrons.

  • Assist in maintaining program records including incident reports, behavioral documentation, program feedback and daily attendance.

  • Know and understand how to execute all emergency procedures following training.

  • Actively attend and participate in scheduled meetings and training sessions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 16 years of age or older, with daily reliable transportation; one year or more of college/university preferred

  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances, including strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Participation and/or coaching in a variety of sports would be considered an asset

  • Exceptionally self-motivated, punctual, enthusiastic and takes initiative without prompting.

  • Able to successfully pass a Criminal Records Check - Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Effective skills in communicating both verbally and written with co-workers, supervisors , participants and parents.

Salary: $15.00 - $17.50 per hour

*This is a seasonal position scheduled to start the end of June until the end of August 2022. This position is based on a

Facility Operation – Sport Services Team Leader / Building Operator

1 - Full Time Position (40hrs/week) – evenings and weekends

3 – Part Time Positions (16-18hrs/week) evenings and weekends

Sport Services Team Leader – (75% in winter season – 25% in summer off season) Primary Accountabilities Include:

This position is responsible for the physical room set up and take down of equipment required for a variety of functions and events such as, business meetings, large public events, birthday parties and tournaments. This position monitors the use of the rooms, assists customers in their requests, and helps to manage the incoming and outgoing flow of guests. This position will work closely with Guest Services Manager and Operations Supervisor to meet scheduled event needs.

 

Specifically:

  • Set-up and take down of tables and chairs, and other preparation for small and large-scale meetings and special events.

  • Equipment and playing service set up for athletic events

  • Assist the facility in managing the traffic flow of people arriving and departing various events

  • Provide superior customer service by addressing customer concerns and questions in a professional manner.

  • Monitor facility areas and activities to ensure a safe environment is maintained and ensure the facility is secured at the close of the events.

  • Provide a wide variety of light maintenance and custodial duties as required, ensuring clean, safe, and well-maintained facilities for users. 

  • Mentor part time staff to maintain our high level of customer satisfaction.

 

Building Operator – (75% in summer off season – 25% in winter season) Primary Accountabilities Include:

The Building Operator will have a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment on all systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, BMS, Carpentry, Painting) and be multi-skilled in others to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments and seasonal projects.

 

Specifically:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance

  • Plan, coordinate, and perform maintenance and repair of all electrical and/or mechanical equipment and maintain up-to-date records of activities

  • Monitor and operate the Building Automation System and ensure that problems are addressed to prevent system malfunctions and downtime

  • Maintain all electrical and mechanical rooms so that they are clean and always organized.

  • Assist Management with all aspects of building operations such as budgeting for capital expenditures, purchasing of materials, controlling inventory of stocked items, directing contractors for budgeted work, and making recommendations on possible changes to enhance the efficiency of building operations

  • Assist other departments with “set-up” and “tear-down” of materials (if applicable)

  • Operate motorized equipment (i.e., forklift, and scissor lift, etc.) 

  • Conduct regular building inspections ensuring the building equipment meets scheduled and periodic maintenance requirements.

  • Light duty snow removal as required from time to time. 

  • Basic plumbing as required and directed by Operations Manager

  • Make minor repairs that are within scope and experience.

  • Provide backup to other members of the crew when the need arises.

  • Be available for on-call duty and shift work as scheduled.

  • Other duties as assigned from time to time based on needs, training, knowledge, and capabilities.

 

Requirements:

A minimum of 18 years of age

Current Standard First Aid - Level C CPR and AED certifications are required or be able to obtain certification

CSA approved footwear is required

Maintenance experience would be an asset

Previous experience working in a customer service-related position is considered an asset

WHMIS, safe lifting training and time management training would be considered assets

Police Clearance required.

 

Skills and Attributes:

Must be able to anticipate the needs of clients and be willing and able to respond to last minute changes. This position will appeal to individuals who enjoy a physically demanding role.

Must be able to adapt well in a fast paced, challenging environment with multiple and changing priorities

Work independently with minimal supervision to complete assigned daily tasks and priorities

Additional Information:

Will require the ability to work a flexible shift schedule (day, evening, and weekend shifts). Monthly schedules will be set based on your availability and operational needs.

Successful candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks and will be required to regularly lift (up to 50 pounds), bend, push, pull and kneel to manage the manual labor component of the position.

PROGRAM LEADER –  Part Time (16-24 hours/week)

Primary Accountabilities Include:

Reporting to the Guest Services Manager the Guest Services Agent is responsible for providing direct customer service as well as answering phones, registrations and bookings for the facility.


Responsibilities:

  • Positive friendly demeanor

  • Receiving payments, balancing daily receipts

  • Registering for programs, booking parties and meetings etc.

Requirements:

The Guest Service Agent requires at least two years of related work experience as well as a dynamic customer service and public relations skills base with the ability to work well in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment are essential. Organization skills a must, good phone manners, Additionally, applicants must have solid experience in Microsoft Word and Excel

Shifts include evenings and weekends, requiring an individual with flexible availability.
